Le Corbusier
Travels, Objects and Collections
NZ$100.00
Le Corbusier did not collect works of art, but rather all kinds of everyday objects: shells, pieces of wood, glass or bone, stones, enamelled ceramics, bricks and common objects. Objects found or collected while travelling, collected and stored in small displays, making up the Swiss architect’s private collection: the only guidelines were personal taste and the appeal of the shapes and materials.
Collectively, they became Le Corbusier’s travelling companions and sources of inspiration, “objects with a poetic reaction” capable of speaking the language of nature. The book Le Corbusier: Viaggi, oggetti e collezioni, published by Corraini and designed by Studio Radl, was published to mark the exhibition of the same name at the Pinacoteca Agnelli, Turin.
